"It may be too late for China to contain the virus inside its borders... Given these dangerous circumstances, a targeted travel ban is warranted to protect Americans until we know more about the virus and the outbreak is under control...

[C]ommercial flights from China to the U.S. should be halted immediately. There's no need for recreational, student or educational, or non-critical business travel under the circumstances until this crisis is under control."

"The United States Government is unable to effectively evaluate and monitor all of the travelers continuing to arrive from China. The potential for widespread transmission of the virus by infected individuals seeking to enter the United States threatens the security of our transportation system and infrastructure and the national security... I have determined that it is in the interests of the United States to take action to restrict and suspend the entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of all aliens who were physically present within the People's Republic of China... during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States."

"President Donald Trump formally pulled the United States out of the deal that his predecessor had made with Iran... Since then, Trump has introduced some of the most robust economic sanctions that have ever been placed on Iran...

It’s time to acknowledge that the application of “maximum pressure” is working in ways that the Iran nuclear deal never did and never could, because it failed to address the full scope of Iran’s bad behavior or acknowledge the value of undercutting the regime’s ability to project strength abroad and at home...

Opponents of the president’s policies should be honest and acknowledge the success of his approach."

"You can't fight an epidemic with political correctness. Trump's travel restrictions are saving lives here and sparing US hospitals, which are already overwhelmed by flu season, from being thrown into crisis...

Without the Trump travel restrictions, travelers unaware they have the virus would be pouring into America, and then going to an ER when symptoms appear. That would be a disaster for hospitals and patients."

"[F]oreign nationals, other than immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, who have traveled to China within the last 14 days will be denied entry into the U.S. for this time...

These prudent and targeted actions will decrease the pressure on public health officials screening incoming travelers, expedite the processing of U.S. citizens returning from China, and ensure resources are focused on the health and safety of the American people."
